7 tips for a happy kitchen remodel

  1. get a good layout beforehand with either a 3d model or the good old painters tape on the floor. this really lets you get a better idea of how things will look before cabinets are actually ordered.

  2. order countertops after cabinets are in. it’s smart to get a good idea of color selections beforehand and get a list of 5-10 that are in stock or have quick ship dates. but we do not recommend picking them out until cabinets, flooring, and painting are completed. we have seen too many regrets and too many people wish they had chosen differently. all the elements tie in together at the end making it smarter to pick your countertops after.

  3. keep appliances away from the corners. this creates an off balance within the cabinetry and appliances and usually makes things a tad awkward. it can also be difficult to operate appliances when limited to more confined areas.

  4. do not underestimate the power of lighting. lighting can really open up your kitchen and make a gigantic difference. super important to invest wisely on lights and don’t skimp out. leds are a powerful way to brighten up a room and paired with a pop of some countertop pendants they can be just the trick for a fabulous finish.

  5. think about your traffic patterns. what rooms are connected to the kitchen, who will be walking in and from where, etc. This should determine where you want your appliances, where your island should be facing and if you want a cooktop or sink in the island, etc. there are some many elements that should be intertwined into your kitchen layout before commitment.

  6. don’t always go with the trend. trends fade and you want your kitchen to last. don’t hop on a Pinterest picture and expect that kitchen to be in style next year. find lasting ideas that aren’t too bold in one niche. get a variance while keeping it neutral/earthy.

  7. build a temporary island. may sound like a waste of time, but if you order to small or big, you can have some major regrets. it’s crucial to have enough walkway space to code while also not compromising extra space you could’ve had for cabinetry/countertop. you want your island to be a perfect fit for the space given while fitting the criteria you want.
